Rebecca Freeman is a young illustrator that creates enchanting drawings and crafts in her home near Falmouth. Having studied both Fine Art and an MA in illustration she has a creative eye and attention to detail that takes both skill and dedication.
Rebecca uses a variety of medias, mainly paper-based techniques, drawing and ink paintings, as well as etchings, cuttings and carvings. Rebecca also collaborates with other artists, writers, musicians and filmmakers which help expand Rebecca’s creative outlet. She also creates fascinating and bespoke items such as gorgeous carvings out of avocado stones and in the summer she spends days creating beautiful henna pieces in St Ives.

Rebecca uses the idea of the way that stories change when being told and re-told again through generations and places this idea in to her own work. Thus she interprets old folk stories and myths, using them as a starting point to influence her own work. These stories then take on a life of their own in her illustrations, turning into beautifully unique creations.

“In turn I tell my own stories, weaving the fantastical through the mundane and clichéd. The work I make reflects my fascination with the immeasurable capacity for storytelling as a tool to entertain, teach, record, comfort and deceive.”
